We have an immediate opening for a Rear Load Route Driver on a Residential Route with a Class B or higher Commercial Driver’s License with Air Brake Endorsement in our Kalkaska, Michigan location.
Route Drivers are responsible for safely operating a front, side, or rear loading truck while providing prompt, courteous and complete waste removal services for residential customers on a designated route. They ensure that vehicles are in compliance with Company safety standards, and state and federal regulations.
Role and Responsibilities
Perform daily inspections to confirm vehicle is in compliance with Company safety standards, and state and federal regulations.
Perform complete pre/post operation inspection of the vehicle in accordance with Company policy to ensure tire pressure, fluid levels, safety equipment, gauges, and controls are in proper working order.
Report any safety issues on standard reports.
Safely operate truck along designated route and disposal site; read route sheet, follow map and service each customer as identified on route sheet or as assigned by dispatcher and/or supervisor.
Operate manual and/or automatic controls in accordance with Company safety policies and procedures to lift and load refuse, operate compactor and dispose of collected material.
Courteously interact with all customers and provide service in a timely manner.
Identify unsatisfactory waste containers and report accordingly.
Continuously monitor waste for evidence of unacceptable waste.
Clean area around accidental waste spills.
Continuously monitor condition of vehicle to ensure it is operationally ready at all times; clean waste from blade and truck body on each disposal trip.
Complete required route sheets and other reports as required.
Follow all required safety policies and procedures.
Additional job-related duties as required.
Truck Driving: 1 year (Preferred).
CDL Class B (Preferred).
Air Brake Endorsement (Preferred).
High School Diploma or GED.
Excellent driving record.
Stable work history—verifiable.
Pass DOT physical and drug screen.
Good customer services skills; courteous, professional, honest and trustworthy.
Strong time management skills with the ability to follow through.
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
Physical Demands and Environment
Ability to sit, stand, walk, twist, bend, kneel, see, talk, hear, lift up to 50 lbs.
Exposed to traffic, outside elements, moving mechanical parts, vibration, non-hazardous materials, and variance of sound levels.
Able to work in all kinds of weather.
